Are You Ready For A Disaster?

When I worked back in retail, we had an employee only bathroom. However, we all know that with young children if they tell you they need to go now, they need to go now. We usually let small kids use our bathroom if they had a guardian or parent accompany them. One of my coworkers, a sweet older lady who didn’t have a bad bone in her body, bless her heart, let a child go back without a parent. What ensued next has been dubbed the diaper incident by those of us who were there to witness it. The poor thing, it seemed, had an accident on his way to the bathroom and was too embarrassed to tell anyone about it. So, he did his business (number 2) and tried to flush the diaper he was wearing.
Now, if you know anything about diapers and indoor plumbing, you should know they never should be combined. The combination in our pipes lead to a burst pipe, poop ‘splosion catastrophe. And it was a day or two before our plumber could get there. We didn’t know where the water shut off was, and it would have been really nice to know that information.
If you were to have a diaper incident in your place of business, whether it’s an office, retail or warehouse, do you know where your water shut off is? What about your employees? If you’re out of town, do they know where it is? That’s where we here at SERVPRO of Grapevine/NE Tarrant County comes in! We have a special program called an Emergency Ready Profile, or ERP. We can make a plan of action for any event and any situation whether it’s water, fire, or storm damage. The ERP will help you minimize the damage to your commercial space and give us important information in the case of an emergency. The catch? There is none! This is a completely free service to anyone and everyone!
