Commercial Property Water Removal
4/5/2021 (Permalink)
Water is the single most long-term destructive substance in the indoor environment. Water may dissolve or weaken building materials, damage floors and ceilings, and cause microbial growth if water damage restoration is not implemented quickly and professionally.
When water from a leak, flood, storm, or activated fire sprinklers is present at your place of business, step one is to remove the water immediately. The faster the water is extracted the less damage to the building structure and contents. In many situations, simply removing most of the water is not enough. Water trapped in carpet pad, under the flooring and behind the walls can cause permanent damage if not properly dried out in a timely manner.
Once the majority of water is removed, dehumidifiers and air movers will be placed by technicians in necessary areas of the building to finish the dry out process. Combining water removal, with dehumidification and air circulation aids in the prevention of microbial growth from expanding and growing.
A SERVPRO manager will walk the property with the owner or manager and adjuster explaining the water damage restoration process and answering any questions they may have about removal of property, items and demo.
